DirecTV Inc. and EchoStar Communications Corp. have both stepped up efforts to woo Voom customers, who will lose their direct-to-home satellite television service at the end of the month when Cablevision pulls the plug on the service.

EchoStar said it is offering current Voom subscribers six free months of HD programming and high-definition receivers in up to two rooms at no charge. For a limited time, those who sign up also can receive more than 180 standard definition channels for only $31.99 a month for the first three months with a one-year agreement.

DirecTV is offering a $200 mail-in rebate on its HD equipment exclusively to Voom customers who purchase a DirecTV HD System before June 30 and subscribe to any Total Choice programming package for one-year and activates the DirecTV HD package. Voom customers also get a DirecTV HD systems installed for as low as $99, after a $200 mail-in rebate, or can apply the rebate toward the purchase of a HD DVR.
