Orbital Sciences Corp. said it signed a contract to provide a new geosynchronous communications satellite to Panamsat Corp. The satellite will provide C- and Ku- band fixed telecommunications and direct-to-home television broadcasting services from a mid-Atlantic orbital location. The satellite will be designated PAS-11 and will carry up to 18 active Ku-band transponders and 16 active C-band transponders. Delivery of the satellite is expected in the first quarter of 2007. The contract includes options for two additional satellites. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
