Eagle Broadband said its board of directors promoted David Micek to the position of president and CEO from his position as COO. Micek succeeds Dave Weisman, who will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors. Jim Reinhartsen will assume the role of chairman of Eagle’s board of directors.

Micek has more than 25 years of senior-level product development, sales, marketing, operations and general management experience. He most recently served as the president of Internet search company AltaVista.

“I believe that I speak for the entire board in saying that David Micek is the ideal person to assume the reigns and lead Eagle Broadband forward,” Reinhartsen said in a prepared statement. “I would also like to thank Dave Weisman for the significant contributions he made to the company during his tenure. His vision, leadership and dedication helped focus and position the company for success in the broadband services, satellite communications and set-top box markets.”
