U.S. astronaut Leroy Chiao and Russian cosmonaut Salizhan Sharipov manually launched a nanosatellite from the International Space Station during a space walk March 28, according to various media reports. The satellite weighs about five kilograms and will remain in orbit for about three months. It is an experimental satellite testing communications technology that uses Globalstar satellite telephones.
