International Launch Services (ILS) will make its second attempt to launch the Inmarsat 4-F1 satellite into orbit on March 11. The satellite is being delivered to orbit onboard an Atlas 5 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Fla. The first attempt to launch the satellite on March 10 was aborted with a few minutes left in the countdown. According to a recorded message on ILS’ launch hotline, the March 10 launch was scrubbed due to “an issue with the flight control system.” The launch window for the March 11 launch opens up at 4:42 p.m. EST, after this edition of Satellite Today is closed. The Inmarsat 4-F1 satellite is the first satellite that will be a part of the constellation that will support Inmarsat’s forthcoming broadband global area network service.
