Inmarsat 4-F1 Launch Rescheduled
International Launch Services scrubbed its scheduled launch of the Inmarsat 4-F1 satellite on March 10. According to a recorded message on the company’s launch hotline, the mission was aborted with minutes remaining in the countdown due to “an issue with the flight control system.” The launch was rescheduled for March 11, with the launch window opening at about 4:42 p.m. EST, after this issue of Satellite News went to press. The Inmarsat 4-F1 satellite will be launched into orbit onboard an Atlas 5 rocket from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The satellite is the first of three satellites that will be a part of the constellation that support’s Inmarsat’s forthcoming Broadband Global Area Network service.
