Lockheed Martin said it achieved a milestone with the completion and delivery of a sophisticated, high-performance communications subsystem integral to the infrared payload of the first Space-based Infrared System High (SBIRS High) geosynchronous orbit satellite. SBIRS High is the United States’ next-generation missile warning system. Lockheed Martin said that in the next several months it will work with Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems, which is providing the payload, to integrate the subsystem into flight configuration and continue component installation and preparation activities leading to the start of final assembly integration and testing later this year.
