AirCell said it is now offering the capability of tracking aircraft in real-time, regardless of whether the plane is on IFR flight plans within standard air traffic control radar coverage. Aircraft with an AirCell satellite transceiver and a lightweight-tracking controller installed can have GPS location data automatically transferred to customers at selected intervals via the Iridium mobile satellite constellation. AirCell said the pricing and availability of its flight tracking capability would be announced in the coming weeks.
