Xantic Boosted By Inmarsat Distribution Agreement
Xantic, a provider of mobile satcom solutions for voice, fax and high-speed data, finalized a key agreement with Inmarsat. The two companies have ratified their agreement to appoint Xantic as a launch distribution partner for Inmarsat’s new broadband global area network (BGAN) services. Inmarsat hopes to launch its BGAN services later this year, which will provide higher bandwidth of up to 432 kilobits per second and improved portability via a broad range of terminals.
In other news, Inmarsat selected Xantic to be an interconnect partner, which means that Xantic will be one of the two suppliers for the interconnection between the terrestrial network carriers and mobile satcom users. Xantic is looking to play a pivotal role in Inmarsat’s attack on the mobile satellite data market. In 2003, Xantic established its own points of presence (PoP) for both Regional BGAN and BGAN in order to develop a full range of value added services for its customers. The Xantic infrastructure is placed between the Inmarsat Regional BGAN and BGAN system and the Internet in order to develop a value added services platform.
