Telenor Satellite Services acquired Neratek AS, a Norwegian provider of land mobile and maritime satellite communications equipment and services. Telenor said it plans to incorporate Neratek’s operations with the operations of its Marlink global satellite services retail organization.

Telenor expects to take advantage of Neratek’s high name recognition and quality equipment and services for maritime communications in the Nordic regions and deliver that to other parts of the world, specifically the Asia-Pacific region, spokesman Tom Surface told Satellite News.

“The acquisition brings a better flow of equipment so that Marlink, which is a one-stop-shop for equipment, service and integration, will now have a more direct line of satellite communications equipment readily available so that they don’t have to go to a second or third party to incorporate equipment into the services they going to give to a particular ship or a particular land user,” Surface said.
