General Dynamics‘ C4 Systems division won an $830 million contract from Lockheed Martin to help develop a satellite-based system to support the U.S. military’s network-centric communications initiative and will hire about 200 new workers as a result of the contract win. The funds for the C4 Systems contract comes from a $3.2 billion contract that Lockheed Martin won last year from the U.S. Navy. C4 Systems was part of the team that Lockheed Martin led in competition for the U.S. Navy contract for the system, known as the Mobile User Objective System, or MUOS. The report said that C4 Systems will be developing the software for the system.
