According to a new report, “Real-Time Traffic Systems,” published by research firm ABI Research, the advent of satellite radio to deliver real-time traffic data will not only spur adoption of real-time traffic data services in North America, but for navigation systems as well.

The report notes that XM Satellite Radio already has a traffic data subscription service and that Sirius Satellite Radio will be launching its competitive product soon. The report also said that after-market navigation products that take satellite radio-based traffic information will be launched soon as well.
