The Defense and Space Power Division of EaglePicher Technolo-gies LLC said OHB-System AG will use its nickel-hydrogen single pressure vessel battery to power the SAR-Lupe, the future German satellite constellation that will be used for radar image reconnaissance. The order is valued at $3.6 million.

EaglePicher said the first of five satellites to make up the recon constellation will be launched next year aboard an unnamed Russian launcher. The constellation is expected to be completed in 2007 and to provide images to the German Armed Forces until 2015. EaglePicher says its batteries provide energy storage and eclipse power to more than 400 satellites.
