The Arizona Republic today is reporting that General Dynamics C4 Systems has received a $209 million contract from Orbimage Inc. to build an imaging satellite for the U.S. military. The satellite is expected to be launched in early 2007 and will have a seven year lifespan. The satellite also will have commercial uses for its images, including pipeline routing and construction and severe storm research, the article noted. The company also received a $20 million contract to provide the U.S. Marines with a mobile operations center.
