With Europe’s Galileo satellite navigation system partially funded by the private sector, questions linger as to what applications will help the consortium that wins the contract to get a return on its investment. Although no details were offered as to how the payment system will work, we at Satellite Today speculate that this could be one of the ways the private companies recoup their investment by taking a piece of each payment transaction made by specially-equipped cars passing through toll plazas on European roadways.
