- Researchers at the Hokkaido Institute of Technology along with a group of unnamed private companies will set up a venture to develop a small satellite to help farmers decide if their rice has grown well. The venture plans to launch the satellite by fiscal 2008. The venture plans to spend about $4.8 million, including the cost of launching the satellite aboard a Russian rocket, and it aims to receive about $48,365 annually from 20 groups across Japan.
