SEC Asks Boeing For More Accounting Information

By Staff Writer | October 22, 2004

The Boeing Company [BA] says it is complying with a request from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to provide information in connection with an inquiry about its accounting for pension and other post-retirement benefit plans. Boeing issued a statement that it was cooperating with the SEC’s inquiry, which also includes other companies.

The SEC has not indicated thus far that any violation of law has occurred. However, due to the early stage of this matter, Boeing is unable to predict what conclusions, if any, the SEC will reach. Boeing believes that its accounting policies and practices are “accurate and complete.”
