By Staff Writer | October 22, 2004

Australian DTH operator Foxtel launched a new service aimed at two million deaf and hearing-impaired Australians. These consumers will now have access to a wide range of subscription programming for the first time. The ‘closed captioning’ service will be available on 20 channels at launch, with a minimum of 5 percent of all digital content on those channels captioned. This will grow to at least 25 percent of all digital programming within five years, and the number of channels offering closed-captioned programming will grow to 40 within two years.
