By Staff Writer | October 19, 2004

Ottawa, Canada-based C-COM Satellite Systems Inc. [CMI], has teamed with fellow Ottawa company RAMTelecom to deliver high-speed, satellite- based mobile Internet services using the LinkStar equipment of Carlsbad, Calif.-based Viasat [VSAT].

RAMTelecom, through their network operation center located in Ottawa, will be providing broadband services for the C-COM developed iNetVu Mobile platform, which will be able to deliver upload speeds of up to 1.15Mbps and download speeds of up to 60Mbps.

“C-COM has been working with RAMTelecom over a number of years to deliver mobile solutions to their expanding base of customers. We are pleased to see them teaming up with ViaSat to deliver the much-needed high-speed broadband over satellite capability which many of our joint customers have been looking for. We expect to see a large number of iNetVu Mobile units deployed using Viasat LinkStar equipment with the RAMTelecom service,” said Leslie Klein, president and CEO of C-COM.
