DigitalGlobe Offers Hurricane Images

By Staff Writer | October 14, 2004

The devastating hurricanes that blasted through the southeastern United States during recent months have made for compelling imagery that now is available through Longmont, Colo.-based DigitalGlobe. The latest patch of imagery and geospatial information products from the company features satellite imagery of the Florida Gulf Coast that includes imagery before and after Hurricane Charley. The 2-foot resolution imagery, collected by the high-resolution QuickBird satellite, shows the effects of a Category Four storm.

The imagery is useful for federal and civil government agencies responsible for coastal and in-land damage assessment, long-term environmental and reconstruction monitoring, and identifying and calculating property loss.
