MultiChoice Africa Set For HD Launch

By Staff Writer | September 22, 2004

MultiChoice Africa, a pan-African DTH platform, is potentially two years away from launching a high-definition (HD) channel in South Africa. MultiChoice CEO Nolo Letele told Satellite Today, “We recognize that, in South Africa, there are very few HDTV- capable TVs, but already these flat screens are coming into the market. We ourselves are planning tentatively to launch a single channel in 2006, which is HDTV capable, and those people that have the TV sets would be able to receive it of course.” An in-depth interview with Nolo Letele can be found in the Sept. 29 issue of Inside Digital TV.
