Satlynx S.A., a joint venture of SES Global, Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. and Alcatel Space, signed an agreement to provide its two-way satellite broadband service to the customers of France Telecom after successfully completing numerous tests in various French regions. The pact helps France Telecom supplement its existing terrestrial broadband services by serving areas of France that only can receive broadband access via satellite. Satellite-transmitted broadband service “considerably increases the options available to companies and municipalities” in the more remote parts of the country, said Paul Heinerscheid, president and CEO of Satlynx.
