China Launches Surveillance Satellite

      Satellite Today learned that China launched a satellite yesterday that will conduct a surveying and mapping mission over a several-day period before returning to Earth. According to reports, this satellite — the 19th recoverable science satellite launched by China – took off at 3:50 p.m. EST from Jiuquan Space Center in China’s desert northwest region aboard a Long March 2C rocket.
