Hispasat CEO Confident Regarding LatAm Prospects

By Staff Writer | August 6, 2004

Hispasat is confident it will be successful in generating significant revenues from the Latin American broadcast and telecom markets now that its Amazonas satellite was launched yesterday. Hispasat CEO Jacinto Garcia Palacios believes the company is well placed in the region.

Palacios told Satellite Today, “We will be competitive for many reasons. Amazonas is the first Ku-band satellite really launched for Latin America. All the other satellites are marginal operations for the operators. For us, it is a major aim to operate in Latin America with Ku-band.”

An exclusive in-depth interview with Palacios can be found in the Aug. 12 issue of sister publication Satellite News. For more information about subscribing to Access Intelligence’s satellite newsletters, check out our Web site at https://www.satellitetoday.com
