SES Americom Seeks Agency Nod To Move Cable Orbiter

By Staff Writer | July 27, 2004

SES Americom Inc. filed an application with the FCC for modification of its authorization to operate the Satcom C-4 satellite, a C-band geostationary satellite currently operating at 135 degrees West longitude. According to SES Americom, Satcom C-4 has access to virtually every cable head in all 50 states and the Caribbean. The C-4 satellite is being replaced at that orbital location with AMC-10, launched Feb. 5. SES is requesting in its application the authority to relocate Satcom C-4 to 85 degrees West longitude following the upcoming launch of another cable bird, AMC-16, in December.
