Jorge Rodriguez, president of the Venezuelan National Elections Board, said Gilat Satellite Network Ltd. [GILTF] is among several companies chosen to partake in a large-scale project for identifying voters and for keeping track of voter registry in Venezuela. Gilat will provide a satellite-based VSAT network to transfer voter identification data from fingerprints at polling stations. The data will be used to help ensure that a voter at one location has not already placed a vote at another location. The country is holding a referendum Aug. 15 for the continuation of the term of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
