Telenor Satellite Services today announced the release of its latest broadband communications package, Sealink Global Access, it says will deliver high-speed global services to the maritime industry. The package includes on-board telephone/fax lines; Internet access; installation and maintenance of the on-board antenna and equipment; and around-the-clock customer support. The new service can be tailored to meet specific shipboard satellite communications needs, including prepaid calling for passengers and crew, additional phones and data ports, and fixed leased lines to ships’ land-based facilities from Telenor’s teleports. Sealink currently serves more than 300 vessels globally, and this new maritime very small aperture terminal (VSAT) service will provide ships with connections as fast as 256 Kbps for a fixed monthly fee.
