Orbcomm officials today said the company is working in tandem with Delphi Corp. [DPH] to offer the technologies needed for low-cost, highly robust telematics applications for a variety of marketplaces that include the global automotive business. Orbcomm and Delphi team members will address the three big challenges associated with telematics deployment: network coverage, practical vehicle-grade hardware products available in volume and cost-effective service pricing. The two companies intend to offer telematics services at prices less than or mirroring those charged by wireless carriers.
