gpware Plans To Demonstrate Multilingual Navigation Service

By Staff Writer | March 18, 2004

Menlo Park, Calif.-based gpware, a provider of mobile navigation services that offer turn-by-turn directions, is introducing new smartphones for use in Europe that provide instructions in English, French and other languages.

The service, to be demonstrated at the CTIA Wireless 2004 event in Atlanta March 22-24, uses Global Positioning System (GPS) and cellular data services to convey the navigation information to subscribers. Users simply speak the name of a destination into their phones and the gpmobile service then determines and communicates an optimal route, company officials said.
