By Staff Writer | February 27, 2004

Trimble [TRMB], a Sunnyvale Calif.-based provider of GPS technology, is going to supply UNAVCO with Global Positioning System (GPS) reference station receivers for at least the next five years. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 875 model Trimble reference station receivers will be used as part of the Plate Boundary Observatory (PBO) network, a major part of the EarthScope Program sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The Plate Boundary Observatory is a geodetic observatory designed to study the three-dimensional strain fields resulting from movement of the Earth’s tectonic plates.
