Pennsylvania Attorney General Pappert Sues N.J. Satellite TV Company

By Staff Writer | February 25, 2004

Pennsylvania Attorney General Jerry Pappert has filed a lawsuit against two New Jersey-based companies and their owner. The lawsuit accuses them of illegally contacting dozens of consumers whose names and telephone numbers are on the state’s “Do-Not-Call” list.

Pappert identified the companies as Satellite Systems Direct and Elephant Wireless, of Edison N.J. Among the claims in the lawsuit, the companies were calling Pennsylvania residents even though the companies had not been registered as telemarketers and had not purchased the state’s “Do-Not-Call” list. Under Pennsylvania law, telemarketers are prohibited from contacting consumers whose names and telephone numbers are registered on the “Do-Not-Call” list.
