Ericsson [ERICY], a Charlotte, N.C.-based wireless communication company, and Econet Wireless Nigeria have signed an expansion GSM contract valued at $110 million. A first phase of the project is underway and shipments for the second phase are beginning immediately.

The expanded network will help Econet to sustain rapid subscriber growth and facilitate the easy introduction of services to its customers. The network will be expanded into Nigeria because the region is well suited for satellite communications.
