ViaSat [Nasdaq: VSAT], a Carlsbad, Calif.-based satellite technology company, received a contract for more than $7 million from Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems [NYSE: LMT] for satellite equipment to be installed in Iraq for the coalition army. The network would provide secure voice and data services, plus voice-over-IP, to integrate telephone and data. Coalition forces would have access to new network-centric services that would become available with the launch of next-generation communication architecture.
