Canadian Space Agency Awards C$65M In Space Technology Contracts

      The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has recently awarded contracts worth C$65 million (US$50 million) in space technology contracts to the Canadian aerospace industry.

      Forty contracts valued at C$17.4 million (US$13.4 million) in total were awarded through the CSA’s Space Technology Development Program (STDP). Companies will develop space technologies ranging from satellite equipment to space robotics. Eleven companies also signed deals worth C$47.6 million (US$36.7 million) in total with the European Space Agency (ESA) to develop space technologies for its Earth observation, communications, space exploration, and generic technologies programs.

      MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates won four CSA contracts involving autonomous robotic satellite servicing in space and the next generation of advanced radar missions.
