Beijing-based and state-owned China Satellite Communications and Denver, Colo.-based China Wireless Communications [OTC: CWLC] announced plans to build several phone cafés in Beijing. The companies are finalizing negotiations to connect 50 phone cafés to their backbone networks across the city. China Wireless anticipates that the completion of the project will provide an increase in revenue immediately. China Satellite Communications is one of six Tier 1 carriers that own spectrum licenses in China. China Wireless said its relationship with China Satellite would enable it to provide technical support for broadband connection projects, including the delivery of voice over IP applications.
