Globecomm Awarded $3.5 Million Thuraya Contract

      Hauppauge, N.Y.-based Globecomm Systems [Nasdaq: GCOM] has won a $3.5 million contract from the Middle Eastern mobile satellite operator Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications to provide a telemetry, tracking and control (TT&C) system. Under the deal, Globecomm will install the TT&C system at Thuraya’s primary satellite gateway in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

      The system will include two, 13-meter antennas, TT&C base-band equipment, monitoring and control software, automatic carrier monitoring, a calibration and carrier control system and other required equipment. Globecomm also will be responsible for turnkey installation, project management and commissioning.
