Israel-based Gilat Satellite Networks [Nasdaq: GILTF] and Telkom SA arelaunching a satellite-based broadband VSAT service in South Africa. The offering, called Spacestream Express, will provide available Internet and data connectivity for enterprise customers in South Africa at data rates ranging from 64 Kbps download and 16 Kbps upload to 512 Kbps download and 128 Kbps upload. The service will be based on a Gilat VSAT network consisting of a Skystar 360E satellite hub station and thousands of VSAT terminals. The agreement covers a five-year period.
