The Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Incident Command unit has signed a contract with Excelerate, a U.K. reseller for C-COM Satellite Systems [Toronto: CMI], to install satellite antennas and provide two-way high-speed Internet access. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The command unit will use the satellite broadband service to communicate in emergencies from remote locations. The system will use Hughes Network Systems‘ satellites. Excelerate said this installation is the first of its kind for a U.K. fire and rescue command unit.
