Arlington, Va.-based Iridium Holdings, the holding company for global satellite communications provider Iridium Satellite, has announced that Dan Colussy will retire as chairman of the board. Colussy, who shepherded the company from its founding in December 2000 through financial break-even, will remain with the company as an investor and member of the board. He also will take the new title of chairman emeritus. Carmen Lloyd, who recently served as president and CEO of satellite communications provider Stratos Global, will take over as chairman and CEO of Iridium Holdings, effective immediately. Gino Picasso will continue in his position as president of Iridium Satellite.
