Galileo Industries‘ shareholder committee approved the appointment of Gunter Stamerjohanns as general manager. For now, Stamerjohanns will be responsible for the daily management of the company with its headquarters in Brussels and two branches offices, in Munich and Rome.

This represents a significant milestone for the company that was set up to oversee construction and deployment of Europe’s Galileo satellite navigation system. The company won its first substantial contract worth 72 million ($85.6 million) in July this year. Before joining Galileo Industries, Stamerjohanns was CEO of the Russian-German joint venture Eurockot Launch Services.
