A Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT]-built Titan IV B rocket lifted off Sept. 9 at 12:29 a.m. EDT carrying a classified payload for the U.S. Air Force and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). The NRO is the U.S. government agency responsible for reconnaissance satellites. The launch was from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. This launch marked the final flight of the Centaur upper stage to be used with Titan IV.
