ORBCOMM Selects EDC For Africa

Dulles, Va.-based ORBCOMM has selected European Datacomm Holding (EDC) as its service distribution partner in the sub-Saharan Africa region to market ORBCOMM’s low-Earth orbit satellite services to commercial customers. Both companies are planning to bring commercial satellite communication services to the African continent, pending regulatory approval.
EDC, a European vehicle tracking and telematics solution provider, will offer data messaging, security and vehicle asset tracking for the automotive manufacturing industry. Applications for other industries, including mining, meter reading and oil and gas production, are also being developed.
