A&E Signs with SES Americom
New York-based A&E Television Networks has signed a long-term service agreement with SES Americom for follow-on C-band transponder capacity on AMC-11, the successor satellite to Satcom C-3. Beginning in 2004, AMC-11 will be used for the distribution of AETN’s The History Channel programming.
AMC-11, an all C-band satellite planned for operation in 2004, will have 24 transponders and will be located at 131 degrees West Longitude. SES Americom said the bird features a higher level of on-board redundancy than the previous generation. An in-orbit satellite, AMC-7, which operates at 137 degrees West Longitude, is available if necessary for full satellite restoration.
