BT Broadcast Services already has deals with a number of satellite operators. In August 2002, it inked a deal with PanAmSat [Nasdaq: SPOT] to provide video and broadcast services in the United States. BT wants to make further deals with satellite operators as it bids to increase its revenues from Asia. “The deal we have with PanAmSat is a global deal already. What we would like to do is talk to the other operators about how we can do a similar deal with them, but these could be global deals, not just Asia specifically. We hope to announce what we are doing in Asia in about three months. At the IBC [conference], we intend to tell our Asian broadcast story,” noted Smith.
