ILS Readies Rainbow 1 Launch This Week

      International Launch Services is preparing for the launch of Cablevision Systems’ [NYSE: CVC] Rainbow 1 DBS satellite onboard an Atlas V from Cape Canaveral, Fla., scheduled for July 17. The 9,542 pound Rainbow 1, manufactured by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems, will be blasted into the 61.5 degrees West Longitude (W.L.) orbital slot. The bird has 36 Ku-band transponders and 22 programmable spot beams.
