Trimble Gains Patent for Status Reporting System

By Staff Writer | July 11, 2003

GPS device maker Trimble [Nasdaq: TRMB] received a U.S. patent for its automated status reporting of ready-mix concrete trucks. The system allows fleet operators to receive automated status reports of ready-mix trucks during their daily operations.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Trimble’s system automatically reports a variety of programmable events such as “leave plant,” “arrive at job site,” “pour begin,” “pour end,” “leave job site,” “water added” and “return to plant,” among many others. Prior to the system’s introduction, ready-mix producers had to rely on manual status reporting systems, which require driver input and are prone to user-error or misuse.
