LiveTV To Provide First Satellite TV Service in Canada

      LiveTV, a unit of JetBlue Airways [Nasdaq: JBLU], has signed an agreement with Canadian low-cost carrier WestJet Airlines [Toronto: WJA.TO] to provide in-flight satellite TV service on the carrier’s fleet of 40 Boeing 737-700 aircraft. This will be the first time in-flight satellite TV has been made available in Canada, LiveTV officials said.

      LiveTV will install and maintain its satellite receiving and distribution equipment on 737-700 aircraft, while WestJet will purchase the seat equipment and seatback monitors. Passengers will receive TV programming from Bell ExpressVu, a unit of BCE [NYSE: BCE]. Installation of the equipment is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter and be completed by the first quarter of next year.
