Alcatel Space Secures $190M Star One Contract

      Alcatel Space has received a $190 million order from Brazilian satellite operator Star One to build and launch the Star One C1 communications satellite serving the Latin American market.

      Based on the Spacebus 3000B3 platform, Star One C1 will be launched by the end of 2005 aboard an Ariane 5 rocket and will be positioned at the 65 degrees West Longitude orbital slot. Star One C1 will be the first satellite in the C series and have 37 transponders in the C- and Ku-bands. It will replace the existing Brasilsat B2 satellite in the C- band.
