By Staff Writer | June 11, 2003

CHICAGO – Favorable subscriber reaction has spurred EchoStar Communications [Nasdaq: DISH] to add a Spanish-language soccer channel to its top 150 English-language programming lineup, the satellite TV provider announced here at the National Cable and Telecommunications Association show.

Roger Huguet, COO of Miami-based soccer network GOL TV, said his company “scored” a new deal with the satellite TV provider to feature the channel. As part of the deal, GOL TV will change the audio portion of its broadcast from Spanish to English. GOL TV was previously offered by EchoStar in a Spanish-language programming package.
