Improved Technology Key To Fight Piracy, Says Kudelski

A recent European Commission report on smart card piracy indicated that there is a need to have strong, harmonized anti-piracy laws across Europe to tackle the $1 billion lost to European companies. The Kudelski Group, a provider of conditional access systems for satellite and cable TV systems, sees the answer in stronger encryption technology.

President & CEO André Kudelski told SATELLITE TODAY: “One of the key elements will be what shape the industry is in, in terms of its ability to invest in the fight against piracy. To fight against piracy is to get the best technology and to be able to pay for the cost of this technology” in improved revenues.
